Real Madrid are unlikely appeal Cristiano Ronaldo’s yellow card in Wednesday’s 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano, according to AS.
The Portuguese received the caution from referee Melero Lopez for an alleged dive after he appeared to have been felled in the box by Rayo defender Antonio Amaya, triggering an automatic suspension for picking up five yellows.
The final decision will not be taken, however, until the both the player and coaching staff have been consulted, although it is understood the club are happy for him to sit out Saturday’s home game with Eibar.
Their reasoning is that there are more difficult fixtures on the horizon, with Los Blancos due to face Sevilla, Espanyol and Celta Vigo in the coming weeks.
Ronaldo was joined on five yellow cards by James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos, who will also miss the Eibar clash, while Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal are all one card away from suspension.
