Man City star Sergio Aguero charged with violent conduct

The Argentine international now faces a three-match ban that would see him miss Premier League games against Manchester United and Bournemouth and a League Cup third-round tie against Swansea City.

Aguero appeared to elbow Reid in the head on Monday (NZT), a Premier League game City won 3-1. The incident was not seen by match officials so the FA has taken retrospective action.

On Monday, Aguero withdrew from the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela due to calf injury

Argentina host Uruguay on Thursday and then visit Venezuela five days later.

Stephen Keshi dies at 54

Former Nigeria soccer star and manager Stephen Keshi died early Wednesday in Nigeria, the country's soccer federation confirmed. He was 54.

Keshi had a long career for the Super Eagles, making 64 appearances for the national team from 1981–1995. Keshi was part of the Nigeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994, the same year Nigeria reached No. 5 in the FIFA World Rankings, the highest-ever ranking for an African team.

"He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness," a friend told AFP, "but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife."

After his playing career ended, Keshi eventually entered coaching. He managed Togo and Mali before returning home to Nigeria in 2011. Keshi managed the Super Eagles through 2015, winning another Cup of Nations as manager, making him only one of two people to win the tournament as a player and coach.

In 2014, Keshi’s Nigeria team made the knockout stage of the World Cup.

Keshi’s wife Kate died last year. He is survived by his four children.

Nigeria legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha dazzles in Yobo's testimonial match

Nigerian Legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha dazzled at Yobo's testimonial match which was between Nigeria team Vs World team.

At the height of his prowess, the ex-Bolton Wanderer player was so good that he was named named twice Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha.

The ex-Bolton Wanderers Skipper still performed amazingly even when its more than a decade that he last played professional football.

Samuel Etoo who also participated in the testimonial match was intimidated by his outstanding display that he asked for the Nigeria legend to be substituted before the end of first half.

Okocha set up two goals for Team Nigeria with an awesome piercing passes that sliced through the defense line and made the opponent trilled by his great sight and vision. His feints and turns left opponents lost as he took viewers down memory lane.

Fans took to social media in appreciation of his vintage skills which looked as fresh as it was in youth despite not having played professional football for more than a decade.

The wish of Nigerian fans is for the Legend to lace back his boots and join the Super Eagles who have failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations on two consecutive editions.

He won't be the only legend coming back from retirement to play for the team as Brazilian legend said he is also warming up for the Olympics in August.

Nigeria u-23 coach Samson Siasia might just have seen the magic player to fill in for the tournament.

Mourinho set to replace Van Gaal as Manchester United manager

Manchester United are set to appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager, BBC Sport understands.

It is believed a deal with the 53-year-old Portuguese was agreed in principle before United's FA Cup final win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Red Devils secured their first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 with a 2-1 win in extra-time against Crystal Palace.

Moments after the final whistle, reports emerged that Mourinho would replace Van Gaal at Old Trafford next week.

But the former Chelsea boss has refused to confirm whether he is bound for Manchester, instead only congratulating United on their win at Wembley.

Asked by Sky Sports what he made of Van Gaal's triumph in the final, Mourinho said: “Many congratulations.”

He shook his head when asked if he had a message for United fans and would not respond to questions about whether he was excited for talks with the Red Devils next week.

The BBC are reporting that the Van Gaal will be told on Monday that his services are no longer required and that Mourinho will take charge on Tuesday.

With United failing to qualify for the Champions League under Louis van Gaal, the Old Trafford hierarchy is thought to have decided a change is required.

Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in December but has been linked with the United job ever since.

Spanish newspaper AS this morning claimed Mourinho will receive an £11.6m-a-year salary at United and has demanded executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward give him licence for a complete squad overhaul.

Manchester United Champions league hope revitalized as Manchester City draw against Swansea

Manchester United hope of qualifying to next season's UEFA champions league is renewed after Manchester city draw with Swansea

Manchester United face one of the toughest tests since their existence as they fight for a Champions League spot with only one match to go. Currently sitting at the sixth place, two places below their rivals Man City, the Red Devils need a miracle to qualify for next season’s Champions League action.

Mathematically, Louis Van Gaal’s men can still qualify for the coveted European competition but only if they beat Bournemouth by not less than 19 goals. Sounds impossible? No. In the world of football, anything is possible.

The Red Devils will face The Cherries at a yet-to-be-confirmed date following the abandonment of their planned fixture due to security concerns at Old Trafford. A suspicious package that was discovered inside Old Trafford triggered the attention of fans and officials who had turned up for the crunch tie. The match was postponed to allow bomb experts and law enforcers to comb the stadium for dangerous packages.

Back to the race for a Champions League spot, the two city rivals are separated by three points, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side has a higher goal difference of 18 goals. Hence, Louis Van Gaal’s men need to score at least 19 goals to topple the Etihad outfit from the fourth spot.

Failure to secure a Champions League spot and the FA Cup could mark the final days of LVG’s career at Old Trafford.

Reason why Manchester United's match against Bournemouth was abandoned

Manchester United's match with Bournemouth has been abandoned after a suspicious package was found at the ground.

Supporters in the Stretford End and Sir Alex Ferguson stand were ordered to leave the ground after a 'Code Red' emergency was declared just before kick off.

The game was expected to be suspended for 45 minutes but has now been cancelled altogether.

United confirmed that a suspiscious package has been identified in the ground.

They said: "Kick-off is delayed at Old Trafford after a suspect package was found in the North West Quadrant. Police are inspecting, more to follow."

The alarm was raied and "Operation Code Red" was declared.

A statement read: "We would like to thank Manchester United's staff, the police and other emergency services for all their efforts today as well as rearranging the match for this coming Tuesday.

"Both Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth's management has been extremely helpful in reaching a swift resolution, which is the best possible given today's events."

United will refund all tickets and allow ticket holders from both clubs to watch Tuesday's re-arranged game for free, while Manchester United season ticket holders will also be given a credit.

It is a gesture that is estimated will cost United around £3m.

Carlo Ancelloti claims Manchester city's new boss Pep Guardiola will join the 'SACK CLUB'

Carlo Ancelotti has warned Pep Guardiola that he will face the sack at some point in his career, saying it is a fate that no manager can avoid forever.

The Italian is widely regarded as one of the finest football coaches in the world having won the Champions League with both AC Milan and Real Madrid.

To add to that, he has also won the Serie A, the Premier League, the FA Cup and Ligue 1, but even he has been thrown out of the job on several occasions.

Guardiola is one of the few managers who can claim to be even more highly regarded than Ancelotti and has experienced tremendous success at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and, more impressively, left both on his own terms.

But as he prepares to take on his biggest challenge yet at Manchester City, Ancelotti has warned him that, at some point or another, Guardiola will join him and a host of other legendary names in the "Sack Club".

"There is no manager in their career that is not sacked. (Sir Alex) Ferguson was sacked, (Marcello) Lippi sacked, (Fabio) Capello sacked, (Jose) Mourinho sacked, (Rafa) Benitez.

“The only one not sacked is Guardiola, but he’s still really young. He has plenty of time. One day he will come into our club, the Sack Club.”

Luiz Suarez hat-trick fires Barcelona to La-Liga title victory

Luiz Suarez hat-trick was what Barcelona needed to retain the La-Liga premier division title after a  3-0 outstanding victory at Granada.

Suarez's first-half double put the defending champions in control and the Uruguay international confirmed Barca's 24th La Liga crown with his third goal four minutes from time

Real, who entered the weekend just a point behind their fierce rivals, beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo brace but it proved in vain.

The Champions League finalists were on an 11-match winning streak in the league and were looking to capitalise on any further slip-up from the Catalans to steal top spot.

Barca, though, were not made to pay for their mini-slump in April - which brought three Primera Division defeats in four games - as they secured a fifth successive victory and a sixth title in eight years.

Despite a nervy start at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, it was Suarez who eased the tension with a 21st-minute goal.

The former Liverpool forward tapped home Jordi Alba's cross and then headed in Dani Alves' centre at the near post just before the break to double Barcelona's advantage.

Granada did seek a route back into the contest but Suarez ended any hope they, and Zinedine Zidane's Real, had of a comeback with a simple 86th-minute goal after unselfish work from Neymar.

The hat-trick also allowed Suarez to win his personal battle with Ronaldo in the race to clinch the Trofeo Pichichi - the league's top scorer - with 40 goals.

Madrid's talisman did do his best to breathe life into the title tussle with his own first-half double in Deportivo, but his 34th and 35th goals of the La Liga campaign were merely consolation.

Harry Rednapp could be named Nigeria new coach

Harry Redknapp could be named Super Eagles of Nigeria new manager according to Daily Star

The Daily Star has published an 'exclusive' report that claims former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will be named the new Super Eagles boss.

Earlier this week, Salisu Yusuf was named the interim manager for the Nigerian national football team and is set to guide the West African nation to two international friendlies between May 27 and June 1. The Nigerians are set to face Mali in Paris and Luxembourg during that period.

The English publication also claims that a source close to Redknapp has revealed that he will be named the new Super Eagles boss in 'the next few days.'

But the 69-year-old's lack of experience at the international level could be a major concern for fans of the football-loving African nation.

The former West Ham boss is fresh from managing two games for Jordan, in a deal that was widely seen as a favor for the country's FA president Prince Ali bin al-Hussein.

It should be remembered that the former Queens Park Rangers boss was also given a chance to work as an adviser for Derby County, but insisted to work on a part-time basis, probably setting his eyes on what is considered the biggest job in African football.
