Uganda is ready for Nigeria - Micho

Uganda Cranes coach, Micho Sredojevic, is looking forward to the clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles with relish.

The Super Eagles will host the Cranes at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium on Wednesday in an international friendly in prepararation for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that starts in June.

Micho knows he comes up against top quality opposition in the former African champions but says the team could not have got better opponents for the 2017 Afcon qualifiers preparations.

“Amokachi (Daniel, Nigeria coach) has summoned 28 big name players,” said Micho, adding, “Just on (Saturday) I watched six of them in big European leagues.

"As seen on TV, they deserve respect but not over respect because we need to focus more on our team in terms of mental, physical, technical and tactical aspect in preparation for next year Afcon qualifiers".

“We look forward to the match as sportsmen and thanking Nigeria that has chosen us as partners to check up both teams present state before June qualifiers.”

Nigeria settled on Uganda after Bolivia opted out from the earlier scheduled friendly citing reported insecurity in the West African country.

Uganda and Nigeria have met six times with the Cranes winning three of them, losing two and drawing one.

The Cranes depart Kampala on Sunday aboard Ethiopian Airlines. The team will have a stop-over in Addis Ababa, where the team will link up with foreign-based players for an overnight sleep before connecting to Abuja today.
