Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is on his way back to recovery, after having playing in an U21 fixture on Monday night. The Dutchman was on the pitch for around an hour, and is likely to make the United squad again for this weekend’s clash versus Everton, reports Sky Sports.
Van Persie even made an assist in the game, so manager Louis van Gaal will be delighted with his showing.
The veteran striker has been out of action for two months with an ankle injury, which has seen Wayne Rooney shine in his absence up front. But injuries to the midfield saw the England international dropped deeper in the side for Radamel Falcao to lead the line recently.
Falcao continues to struggle in attack, so Van Persie’s return comes at a good time for United. He’s unlikely to start this weekend, but is sure to get some game time against the Toffees. United are looking to finish the season strongly, as they are targeting a top-two finish to avoid Champions League qualifiers in the summer, and they want to put any pressure they can on league leaders Chelsea.
